About this table: This table summarizes comets discovered and confirmed in SOHO satellite data. The Perihelion Date column represents the date at which the object reached its perihelion (closest approach to the Sun). The Comet Designation column represents the unofficial SOHO designation and also the official IAU designation. The Comet Discoverer column lists the person or persons who first reported the object. The Telescope column lists the SOHO instruments in which the object was discovered and/or observed. The Perihelion Distance column lists the object's closest approach to the Sun in units of AU (Astronomical Units). Additionally, the values are linked to the MPEC (Minor Planet Electronic Circular) that defines the official orbit for the object. The Orbit Updates column lists any subsequent orbit updates to the objects. Note that the majority of these links point to IAUC (International Astronomical Union Circular) files, which are only available to subscribers of CBATs Electronic Computer Service.

Note: C/2005 W4 is very likely the return of C/2000 O3. See MPEC 2005-X14.
C/2008 G06 is likely a return of C/2002 S11. See MPEC 2008-L29.
MPEC 2008-P60 notes the following:
R. Kracht suggests that the Kracht-group comet C/2008 N4 is a return of C/2002 S7, principally on the assumption that C/2002 S7 was itself a return of one of C/1996 S5, C/1996 S4 or C/1996 S3 (see MPEC 2006-C49). The orbit below shows the result of linking C/2002 S7 and C/2008 N4. This gravitational linkage leads to a previous perihelion time of T = 1996 Dec. 6.00, earlier by a few hours than the values for the aforementioned 1996 comets.
MPEC 2008-S67 notes the following:
The Kracht-group comet C/2008 R7 is likely to be a return of one of the members of Sept. 2002. R. Kracht himself suggests identity with C/2002 S5. Identity with C/2002 S11 is a distinct possibility, although this comet was associated with C/2008 G6 on MPEC 2008-L29.
