A new telescope for comet hunting!

Hi All,

Those of you who subscribe to the SOHO Chat Group will already be aware that the new NOAA GOES-U Compact Coronagraph 1 ('CCOR-1') is returning images, and they have started to be posted online, both as processed images and raw FITS data. The telescope appears to be quite a bit more sensitive than LASCO and, accordingly, a number of new comets have already been discovered in that data! I will post more about the discoveries, and who found them, in a later post. But for now this is ajust a quick message to let you know that the Sungrazer report form now accepts CCOR1 reports, so please begin using that instead of the chat group. If you encounter any errors with the site, let me know, and also email me your report.

One thing that will prove tricky is coordinate systems and rotations. I think the pre-processed images are rotated, and do not fit a standard size. The FITS images are raw, and do use a standard size (2048x2048). In that regard, I am open to suggestions with respect to the drop-down menu options on the site. I currently just have "2048x2048 (CCOR1)" as an option on there, but I could also add "1204x1255 (CCOR1 jpeg), or something to that effect? It really depends on what systems people are using. So please send me feedback on that, and we will do what we can to handle those situations.
