Congratulations to Szymon for finding SOHO's 3,500th comet! 

I have had a couple of emails in recent months regarding the backlog of
SOHO comets waiting orbital designation. First I want to note that the
backlog rests with the designating authorities, not me... (I have over
1,000 comets ready and waiting to be designated). In recent months I 
have had conversations with officials who oversee such efforts, and I
have been assured that this will be addressed at some time in the near
future. So I just want to assure you all that these comets ARE still 
being recorded, and measured, and WILL eventually receive official
designations. The SOHO (and STEREO) comet archives contain a truly
unique archive of science data, and I have no intention of allowing
this science - and more importantly all of your efforts - to be wasted.
I will keep you updated as and when I have more information.

Finally, the Sungrazer website is long overdue for a redesign. In the
coming months, this is something that we plan to address, with not only
an improvement in the design/layout, but improvements to the comet 
reporting procedures as well. Again, I will keep you all updated as 
this progresses.
