Lab was closed yesterday due to snow. I received this from Worachate at

In other news... If you visit the main SOHO website, you will see we have 
launched the "SOHO-3000" contest. The goal is to guess *perihelion date/time* of
SOHO-3000. Of course, you are all encouraged to enter the contest! The contest 
will close when we reach ~2950.

Per my long-standing policy, realtime or near-realtime comet reports will be 
confirmed in the order they are received. Archive reports - that is, comets found
in data that has been publicly available for more than ~3-days - will be confirmed
periodically, but will NOT be confirmed at a time that influences any "milestone"
numbers (e.g. 2900, 3000, etc). 

Right now I still have a couple of archive reports from Trygve which I'll confirm
well before we reach #3000. If any of you have other archive comets, please
send them to me soon so I can do those all at once. I probably won't do
another batch of those until after 3,000.

This is what I have so far. We have some missing data here at the Lab 
resulting from the network problems we had last week. I'll continue 
confirmations once that is all corrected.

each other via email. They will all share joint-credit.

I also forgot to mention that SOHO is in its keyhole telemetry period right now, so
our data downlink rates are very low. Expect only realtime data in contacts until 
we get on the the high-rate antennas (such as the D43 antenna data dump on
3/13 00:00 - 03:15UT, for example.)

See the "near-term" schedule on the main SOHO website (under the "Operations"
heading) for details of upcoming contacts. 

[Credit goes to Kevin Schenk at NASA/GSFC for reminding me we're in the SOHO
keyhole period. I always forget about it...]

comet.Also, check out the new MPEC for "object" 2015 EV. Interesting
short-period (2.9yrs) object with very low perihelion (0.08AU).
