Dear All,
I am not sure where the LASCO data is right now, and why we do not seem to
be getting any new images. My best guess is that the computer upgrades I
warned you about a week or two ago did not happen due to snow storms in
our area, and perhaps they are doing them today. That is just a guess though.
LASCO/SOHO are fully operational as far as I know, though. I think it is just a 
NASA/GSFC issue.

Dear all,
A LASCO data update... The LASCO computer hit a bug of some kind and stopped
taking the 'normal' (1024x1204) C2 and C3 images. The error was corrected this
morning and we have resumed normal observations. We will start getting data
back down during the next DSN pass, a couple of hours from now. All data from
Feb 2 ~14UT until Feb 4 ~12UT is lost. (Actually, not lost.. just never actually
taken). 
Apologies for the inconvenience. But, in LASCO's defense... the computer it
uses on-board is made from technology from circa 1985... so it does quite well
considering it's a 26yr old computer! :)

It's nice to see a couple of newer names on the discovery list, and
congratulations in particular to Sergei for his first SOHO discovery!

I can not confirm the Masanori Uchina report from Feb06,11 08:15:24 
or Feb11,11 10:18:34. In the case of the second one in particular, I
was close to making it an x-comet. There is definitely something
visible for six or seven images... but if this was a real Kreutz 
then it would have gotten brighter. But instead it just disappeared.

Congrats to Rob on yet another fortuitous comet discovery! (He told me
these were the first images he's downloaded in several weeks) :)

I have not check the reports from today so please confirm/retract as 
appropriate when you have sufficient data.

Congrats to Szymon for finding his first SOHO comet! It should be a pretty nice one, too!

Also, I'm sure you've all noticed that there's a C3 data processing problem with the JPEG
files at GSFC (the nascom site). I have let them know about it. You can continue to get 
the jpegs from us -- ours are fine still. Or you can use the original 'FITS' images, of
course.
