There was a lot of "noise" on the reports page this time around.

90% of this can be eliminated if people would wait for a third

image before making a report. So please do so unless you are

convinced your object is real.

Bo's archive claim looks like it's real but it is just too faint

to be sure. It couldn't get good positions for it, either, so it

becomes X-Comet #55. Sorry, Bo! The archive report from Hua was

much better and I got six or seven good positions for it.

Congratulations to John on his fantastic Kreutz comet -- already

it is looking very nice indeed and must be at least a 4th mag

object. It wouldn't surprise me to see it saturate C2 a little.

******* IMPORTANT NOTICE TO COMET HUNTERS *********

In a short time I am going to be making a change to the

comet report form that will enforce that ALL C3 comet reports

(both 'Potential comet' and 'Fragment/companion' claims) MUST

HAVE AT LEAST THREE (3) POSITIONS. 

Most of the experienced hunters already wait for three C3

positions, so it should not affect you too much, but it will 

reduce a significant proportion of the 'noise' on the reports

page.

Comets in C2 tend to be more obvious, so that will remain a 

two position minimum.

Please email me immediately if you find anything wrong with the

report form and/or are unable to make reports.

Recent confirmations will (hopefully...) happen later today.

There has been too much "noise" on the reports page recently.

Far too many speculative claims. I am hoping that my new rule

for C3 posts (minimum of three positions) will help eradicate

a lot of that, but I also need you guys to think before you

post. Only make a claim if you are convinced that the object 

is likely to be real.

Sorry about the late notice on this, but SOHO has entered the

keyhole (as you might have noticed by the 12min cadence on C2).

We have very limited contact for the next few weeks -- see 

sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/operations/schedule/schedule.html for

the contact schedule. Note also that as of today, LASCO will 

NOT be recorded during data gaps until ~Dec 11th. 

SOHO roll is scheduled for Dec 5th. I will give you more details

nearer the time.

Rainer: your non-group object is just well-placed noise. It
