I've decided the recent SWAN discovery can be soho792. Contact me
if you disagree with this.
As always, all unretracted claims were checked.
Pavel: I think you should check your y-positions. You are
reporting y values of >512 in 512x512 images! Do you have a
50-pixel offset? Please let me know so I can account for it. That
goes for any of you actually -- if you normally have some sort of
offset, but usually compensate for it as, for example, Mike does,
please let me know about it. That way, if you ever accidentally
post the incorrect values (once again, as Mike did), I can still
give you the credit (as I did with Mike!).

Pavel and all: Disregard my comment about the 50-pixel offset. As
Tony and Sebastian have just reminded me, there's an extra 50 pixels
on the 512x512 b/w images. I would prefer people to subtract that
from their positions, but it's not essential.

I think Rainer's Kracht-group comet was too faint to be seen in C3 but
let me know if I'm wrong!
I just want to remind people to please retract their claims if they
realise their report is not a comet. I do check all the unretracted
claims, even if they only consist of 2 positions, and I'm starting to
get a little tired of seeing two dots of noise that clearly have
disappeared on a third image. So please follow-up your 2-position
reports with either 2 more positions (I only need 4 positions in total),
or a retraction.

Hi all,
It's that time of the year again -- SOHO roll time. The schedule is
currently as follows:
On Monday June 21, 15:30 UT, LASCO will be safing for S/C maneuvers and
roll to -180 degrees, and re-open Thursday 6/24 14:30 UT.
For the benefit of the new comet hunters: this means that there
will be no LASCO images during the above time. Full information on why
SOHO has to roll is here:

Zhongqiang: You can't confirm your own comet! Judging by the positions
you give, my guess is that it will be noise, but if you don't retract,

Jim: I think it is actually Rainer's comet you're looking at. The
times/position-angle/heights all pretty much match up.
