Re; XmingZhou archive comet in C2

for: 2003/10/09 at 17:54 UT.
That I confirmed today, I'm now unsure
if it "is" a new one or John Sach's
first comet going into the C2 images?

Can anyone check this?

at this time.

I'm pretty sure Xingming Zhou's dim C2 comet report beginning

at 17:54 on 10/9 is unlinked to any of the three Sachs' comets
in C3, as I can reasonably account for each of John's C3 comets
in C2:

Sachs #1 C3 - reference 10/8 23:42 784 718
Sachs #2 C3 - reference 10/9 11:18 700 685
Sachs #3 C3 - reference 10/9 23:42 774 712

Compare this with:

Rainer C2 - 10/9 14:55 982 954
Xingming Zhou C2 - 10/9 17:54 964 940
Matson C2 - 10/9 22:30 810 928
Rainer C2 - 10/10 13:54 (enter)

Clearly Rainer's two C2 posts correspond to Sachs comets
#1 and #3. And I think just as clearly, my post is in
excellent agreement with Sachs #2. Xingming's is somewhere
between #1 and #2, and perhaps too dim to see in C3.
Congrats! --Rob

I know very little about this, however I did notice an object moving toward

the sun in the lasco image @ http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/hotshots
2003_10_28/c2cme.mpg It originates near the beginning of the video at the 5
o'clock position and is definitely visible for eight or perhaps nine frames
(the ninth seems to show two bits - which could be other objects). Most
interesting seems to be that its disappearance is shortly followed by a very
powerful solar flare. I wonder if it is an object of some kind (doesn't seem
to have a comets tail - and seems very large (or I suppose possibly close)
in relation to the sun).

It would be interesting to discover if this is a known item and whether it has any
relationship with the third largest flare detected in 30 years which occurs
shortly after it disappears and in the location that it was heading
