Hi Doug,
Possible archival sungrazer in C2 frames from 8 october 1997
The object is fairly faint but it is obvious. It's looks like a round and fuzzy blob without tail.
It is visible in 5 consecutives images;
Positions measured from the bottom-left corner of the1024x1024 frames are :
Ref. image, X, Y, Time , Date
22021734.fts 974 55 08:02:05.511 08 october 1997
22021735.fts 948 79 08:28:05.896 08 october 1997
22021736.fts 916 106 09:01:06.177 08 october 1997
22021737.fts 888 130 09:28:05.562 08 october 1997
22021738.fts 863 169 09:53:06.647 08 october 1997
Doug, I am not sure that it is a new comet because Soho33 is very close in the time. But the comet page web
(comets_table_1997.html) give : 1997 Oct. 7.99 for the perihely of this comet.
So my object comes in the C2 field eight hours after Soho33 ! Is it an error on the Web page or am I right ?

Doug,
I also found the Comet that Xavier Leprette just reported also
of the same date, but I was a little too late reporting it :)

Possible archive sungrazer in C2 images from 11 October 1997
This can only be seen in one frame as the frames before
and after it are cropped versions. I am currently downloading the
C3 images to see if it's visible there, but I don't hold out
much hope. This image is faint diffuse and looks like a tail.

I think I should have said in the first post;
Comet in C3 at 20001104_0842 to 1142 UT
then added my name at the end of the form! Sorry! getting
use to the form and posting better in future...

There is a comet in c3 at the following positions (based on
upper left 0,0):
11/04/00 09:42 610,679
11/04/00 16:18 563,613
and every frame between those.
Is this the same as the report by Michael Boschat?

Archive sungrazer in C2 images from 1 November 1997
This is very faint, hardly any condensation, it's all tail!, and
is visible in 5 frames. It is very difficult to get positions
for this. I have put positions for the first 3 images, and I can
see the comet in the other two images if I animate them.
Also it is much further over to the left than I would expect for
a Kreutz sungrazer.

Possible real time sungrazer in C2
But, and this is big BUT, if this is a comet, we may never know,
just as the object was on 2 frames there was a massive CME
which caused the detector to get almost saturated with noise.
All positions with 0,0 at bottom left in 1024x1024 images.

The real time comet in C2 reported by Mike I can't see
but teh times it was reported threw me off, I thought
it was an old time since looking at the form note the
times from the bottom to the top for today, they go;
Nov 8 2000 15:44:38
Nov 8 2000 20:08:52
Nov 8 2000 18:01:43
Should they not be in order like 15, 18, 20?

Sorry, but I missed this one on the last post. It was
reported in the same e-mail as another comet, and because of
the formatting of that post, I managed to overlook it.
This is yet another case of 'twin' comets (with the one reported
as SOHO-250), though they differ significantly in brightness.

Two possible archival sungrazers comets in C2 frames
from 24 november 1998
First possible comet.
The object is visible in 7 consecutives images.
It is faintly bright and condensed. It looks like a small
stellar point without tail. I'm not sure that it is a real
object but the distance between each image seems correct.
The appareance is similar to Soho-206 for instance.

second and the third image.

New real time comet in C2 on 27th Nov 2000
In amongst all the noise there is a faint comet lurking.
It's diffuse with a slight tail.

I have confirmed the following comets reported up to 1600 UT on
Nov 28, 2000. There is one report still to be resolved,
otherwise, we are up to date.
As always, SOHO numbering is tentative and the times are approximate.
SOHO # Discoverer Tel. Date/Time (UT)
------ --------- ---- --------------------
256 X. Leprette C2 98/11/24 04:30-06:58
257 X. Leprette C2 98/11/24 16:36-19:39
? M. Oates C2 00/11/27 06:54-09:30
Report still being considered:

Wondering why there are no images today?
See http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/whatsnew/
SOHO is in CRP mode (10:59 UT).
The transition to CRP mode has started (04:00 UT).
SOHO is in safe mode. SOHO experienced an Attitude Control Unit
(ACU) reset at 00:19:22 UT on November 29, 2000, and went into ESR at
00:19:31 UT. The roll rate is positive at 0.1-0.3 deg/sec. Spacecraft
engineers and the Flight Operations Team are examining telemetry from
the time of the ACU reset, and currently plan to transition the
spacecraft to Coarse Roll Pointing (CRP) mode in a few hours.
So far, no reason to worry.

I've confirmed the report by X. Leprette. It was observed
in the C2 telescope, no tail was evident. Preliminary position
measurements are given below. This one is tentatively numbered as
SOHO-260.
